TYSON: Yeah, exactly. It made me want to win fights like the fighters of old. I wanted that status. I used to read about all these legendary fighters in the boxing encyclopedia, and I’d always be jealous. It was just amazing what they could do and how they would do it—the courage they would have to go about doing it.

Indeed, if one of Mike Tyson’s bodyguards is to be believed, the boxer slept with his fair share of women. In 1992, bodyguard Rudy Gonzalez told The New York Post that Tyson had slept with 1,300 women — and kept their names and sexual preferences in a handheld computer.
“Here was a guy who was just like us, went to the same schools, ate free lunch and grew up just like we did,” Briggs said. “You could be down and out, lose everything, but guess what, you got a chance — do something. Use that energy, use your pain as a fuel, and Mike Tyson shows you that.”
Nevertheless, Tyson’s self-control problems continued. After the referee stopped a fight in June 2000 with American Lou Savarese, Tyson continued punching and inadvertently injured the referee. In comments made to the press after this fight, Tyson outraged boxing fans with bizarre and vicious remarks about British heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis. In his October 2000 bout with Andrew Golota, Tyson won in the third round, but the fight was later declared a no contest because Tyson tested positive for marijuana. Tyson had only one more fight between October 2000 and his June 2002 fight with Lewis.
He lives a comfortable life, but he hasn’t forgotten those days in Brooklyn when he had next to nothing. He knows what it’s like to struggle and he is trying his best to make a difference. When he was on top, it was all too often about him. Now, in advanced middle age, he’s all about others.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is an upcoming professional boxing match between YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul and former undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson. The bout is scheduled for November 15, 2024 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be streamed globally on Netflix.
At one point, he owned three Bengal tigers. As they got bigger, he donated two of them to a local sanctuary but kept the other one, named Kenya, for 16 years. This is the big cat in Tyson’s iconic photo.
It’s not a problem for Tyson that many see him as forever young and hold on to this image of him. Yet he knows what kind of person he was back then—ruthless, dangerous, angry. And now as a father and role model for his children, he hates what he was.

Into the vacuum in Tyson’s life created by the deaths of D’Amato and Jacobs came Don King, boxing’s most notorious promoter, and Tyson’s new wife, actress Robin Givens, box whom he had married after a two-week courtship.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has a big fight lined up for July 20, where he will face the youngest heavyweight champion in history, now long-retired 57-year-old Mike Tyson, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Ever since its announcement, the fight has been attracting considerable attention. Not a day passes by without the teams releasing training clips, snapshots, and footage from varied talk shows and podcasts to keep the followers engaged. In one such podcast, Paul was seen talking about why he was considering getting a face tattoo.
